Its very tired and there is always something not working. The whole spa caught fire and is not going to be reopen until September. Today there was no hot water and yesterday I couldnt pay for my class because the tills werent working. Moving to Nuffield, half the price!
If you're looking for a gym with adiquate weight lifting equipment that's clean and cool then this isn't the place. Minimal equipment, never tidy and temperatures of 29 degrees in the gym. With a price of 100+ it definitely isn't worth it.
The rating given is primarily for the really nice and helpful staff at this club, based on my regular visits. I would have given 5 stars if the maintenance upkeep was better.
I have been a member of David Lloyd Chigwell for a number of years. Over this time I have found the staff to be under trained, rude, sloppy and generally indifferent to complaints and issues raised. Despite the recent fire which rumour has it was down to poor maintenence (big surprise), the final straw for me was joining my daughter for their 3 Month Summer kids membership only to recently find that they have moved her onto a flexible membership and are still charging me 6 months later! Management response to my raising this issue: I have looked into the account and yes your Daughter is still live she is on a flexible membership, if you wished this to be used as a three month membership we should have had this in writing in her second month as this was not received it then becomes a rolling contract where you need to give one months notice in writing to cancel. As we have now received a request to cancel her i have now processed her cancellation her one months notice and final payment will be December and she will cancel 1.1.19. We thank you for her membership with us and we hope to welcome her back in the future. On this advertisement it does say terms and conditions apply at the bottom and these would have been in the terms and conditions you signed at point of sale and i have attached these to the email for you to see. Well done David lloyd, you finally lost me as a customer for life, I will be joining Virgin Active.
No communication with members when club was closed to a fire that closed the club on Friday . Management of this club must take full respondibity for neglecting health & safety concerns registered by members. As to date members of the second rate club have not received any apology from management or offered awards or cancellation.
