Shame. Great looking gastropub, but not a single beer worth drinking! Mid-winter, but not a winter beer, stout or porter, or any dark beer on draught or in bottle, excepting cold Guinness. I'd planned to have a nice pub lunch after a long country walk, but left without a purchase and headed home.
Asked about sitting inside and was told the area was reserved....but after being there for an hour no "party" turned up. The barmen was not friendly, nor did he say it would have been okay to sit inside till the party turned up. Therefore, we sat outside in the cold and left. Advice: Hire more friendly staff that would ensure their customers are put first, and a smile wouldn't go a miss.Side note - the bouncer was lovely and should have been inside serving as he was friendly and interactive with us...as humans.
New Years Day. Menu limited. Starters bland. Had to ask twice for our water. Vegetables under cooked. Stuffing missing from my main. Ordered creme brulee for dessert which said came with a biscuit. Had to ask for the biscuit and a spoon. No grapes with the cheese and biscuits. Generally under whelming. Not returning.
Great food, great ambience. Staff attentive and friendly. Helpful but not intrusive. Have to try the Chocolate and Peanut Butter Bomb dessert. If you have a strong sweet tooth it's for you! And don't share! :)
Wonderful food, drink (good cocktail menu) & nice atmosphere, we went Wednesday lunch time. The food at the King William is wonderful, I've dropped one star because service was slow. Other than that this is a perfect place to eat & relax.
